Action Engineering, Dunedin - case study

' It's terrific!  I find it has more clarity than my old Speedglas™ helmet or my Sentinel helmet ..and I thought they were good!'

We meet with Matt Davidson from Action Engineering about what they think of the TECMEN TM1000 Flip Front Helmet with FreFlow Respirator

Action Engineering Case Study

Tell us a bit about Action Engineering...

We've been operating since 1991, working on major projects in the water and wastewater sector.  We specialise in complex treatment plants here in New Zealand and  overseas, and we also work on transport, marine, structural and other engineering projects.  We're now one of the largest general engineering companies in Dunedin with over 40 staff and 3 workshops!

How do you find the vision of the TM1000?

It's terrific!  I find it has more clarity than my old Speedglas™ helmet or my Sentinel helmet ..and I thought they were good!

Matt - Action EngineeringYou say the vision is the best you've seen, how has that helped you in the workshop?

Having the view with the side lenses helps you know when someone is close by, and just having the extra clarity has improved my welds even more.

What's the airflow like, and how often are you changing the filters?

The airflow is  awesome, really happy with the way it travels over my face. The best thing so far is the filters.  They can suck up so much, and just keep performing.

And how are you finding the battery life and quick charge?

The battery life is incredible.  It takes less than an hour to charge, then keeps going all day with no problems at all.  If I'm hitting the welds really hard, just a 30 minute charge will see me using the helmet for another 4-5 hours.

Is there anything else you'd say stands out about the TM1000?

It's extremely comfortable, and more importantly, I don't find it too heavy.

Would you recommend a TECMEN to other engineers looking to buy a welding helmet?

Absolutely - like I said, it's got better vision than both my Speedglas™ and  Sentinel welding helmets, and also the extra side vision.  The airflow and battery are amazing, and it's comfortable.  All round the best helmet I've had!
